Coastal Abstract Series
Series Statement ( This series is comprised of two mini collections )
Where The Cliffs Begin
This series of abstract works is my response to the Kent coast - a place I wasn’t born to, yet a place that has quietly begun to feel like home. The white cliffs, with their stark beauty and weathered strength, have become symbols of something I’m always searching for: grounding and belonging.
The cliffs, with their luminous stillness and enduring strength, have come to symbolise a kind of home: not fixed by origin, but formed through connection and continuity.
Through abstract expressionism, I translate these emotional landscapes using layered textures, fluid gestures, and a balance of control and release. My work is a way of mapping how place, memory, and emotion overlap - how something outside of us can reflect something deeply within.
Nostalgic Drift
Connected to my ongoing exploration of the Kent coast, this playful mini collection captures the joy and colour of days spent by the coast.
These pieces are rooted in memory - flashbacks of laughter, ice cream, beach towels, and the glitter of sunlight on water, all filtered through the lens of nostalgia.
Bright, spontaneous marks and layered, cheerful palettes reflect the way we experience our most cherished memories: vivid, immediate, and full of magic.
While my broader work often explores the emotional weight of place, this mini-series offers a lighter, more whimsical perspective - a celebration of belonging not through history, but through shared moments and pure feeling.
