Emergence
Series Statement
In this series, I fuse portraiture with abstract expressionism, merging recognisable facial features with bold brushstrokes and vibrant colours. I employ techniques such as dripping, splattering, and gestural mark-making to infuse each portrait with energy and spontaneity, softening the boundary between representation and abstraction.
Underlying this work is my belief that humans are more than the sum of their parts—a depth that goes beyond the visible and definable. In an age increasingly shaped by artificial intelligence, I find this realisation especially significant. Through these portraits, I aim to capture the complex nuances of human experience, conveying a sense of both familiarity and intrigue that hints at something beyond mere appearance.
